Like the ships, the PrimeMinis are in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They support the missions of the service vessels and are a crucial piece of the puzzle for the efficient functioning of the operations at the offshore sites.
On the Ocean is a hostile environment for Information Technology, so the units were tested at GMS’s Headquarters prior to installation. The GMS fleet is often at Sea for months at a time, so reliability is a key selection criterion and having a PC with no moving parts, and SSDs reduces any risk of failure. The barges are deployed globally so they have to manage very different weather and climatic conditions. Any computers used need to be able to cope with these environments. GMS’ new PrimiMini 5 PCs are well equipped for these conditions. In a 5-year comparison with conventional desktop PCs, the PrimeMini 5 devices save the company up to 11,026 tons of CO2e in Scope 3. This is equivalent to the annual CO2e emissions of 115 people.
